Anza, CA

We had Multi zone conferences out in Menifee this week on Friday and even though we were out there until about 4:30, we were able to make it back to Hemet by 5 and we were able to teach a lot that night. We taught Jose a few times this week and he is still doing great! He has came to church 6 times in a row now and is really set on making it to the baptismal date that he set. We also had a lesson with the dad of a recent convert in the ward. His name is Domingo and we taught him earlier on in the transfer and set a baptismal date with him, but he has been really busy since then. They are actually moving in with a member who used to be in the bishopric and he should be getting work off on Sundays soon, so hopefully he can start progressing a lot more with those changes. We were able to give both him and his son blessings of comfort before they went into an appointment with Immigration Services. It was really special for him to see how the priesthood really has been restored and has the power to change lives.

There are 2 branches in our stake as well, one in Idyllwild and another one out in Anza. Both of these branches have their meetings in English, but there are still some people out there that speak only Spanish. I had been out to Idyllwild before, but never had I gone to Anza until Thursday. We were able to teach the Rosas family and they really appreciated the visit. It had been the first time that 2 Spanish speaking missionaries had ever gone out to teach them. We even had one of our members take us out there in his truck since our Chevy Malibu wouldn't have made it with all the offroading. It was just pretty awesome to see how the worth of souls is great in the sight of God. Even though this family lives in the middle of nowhere and can't realistically attend a Spanish ward, they do their best to live the gospel and God cares about them and their progress on the covenant path just as much as those that we usually are visiting out in the other parts of our area.

Unfortunately, we had quite a bit of active members that weren't at church this Sunday, but we have been working hard on bringing back some of the less actives and it has been paying off. There is an 8 year old that is part of a less active family that we just found and had their records moved here. She isn't even baptized yet, but probably will be in the next few weeks, but she already gave a talk in primary after only going to church for the last 2 weeks, so the ward is already putting them to work!
