Training!

It has been a bittersweet end to the transfer because Elder Abraham will be leaving Hemet to go to Ontario. He has been one of my favorite companions and we only had a short 6 weeks together, but I'll have the chance to train a new missionary to end my mission! We were able to make some changes to how we split up the ward and I'll be able to work in a different part of Hemet. It's pretty nice because I have spent 6 months total in this one area of the ward and now I'll get to spend the last 3 in a different part!

We saw a lot of miracles this last week. I was able to go back to Riverside and see Marisela get baptized! When I arrived in that area, she had already been taught before and her daughter was a member. We started teaching her again and this was the right time for her to make a life changing decision and follow the Savior.

We were able to teach Miguel, Gonzalo and Peter a few times this week as well. We did a church tour with Miguel and Gonzalo and they loved it. Our building has a ton of pictures of stories from the Bible and the Book of Mormon. We showed them the baptismal font and that got Miguel pretty excited for his goal of being baptized on August 10th. Jose still really wants to be baptized on the 31st of August, but he told us this week that he wishes he would have already been baptized, so we told him we can push up the date. He is still pretty set on the 31st and is going to be an amazing convert.

At church, a large less active family came for the first time since I have been back here. I taught them a lot when I was here the first time with Elder Royce. They have some unbaptized children that came to church as well that we are going to start teaching on Wednesday when my new companion gets here. The sister missionaries were also able to introduce me to the people they are teaching after church. Since I'll be working in their area now, we will get to start teaching them this week!

One of our ward members had a pretty crazy accident at work a few days ago where he almost died, so he asked for a blessing last night. It was a really spiritual experience and was a pretty great way to end the transfer.

One of my favorite quotes from this week is from Elder Oaks, he said
"All about us, and in our memories of earlier times, we have inspiring examples of the submissive, faithful service of Latter-day Saints. One of the best known was that of President J. Reuben Clark. After over 16 years as an extraordinarily influential first counselor, the First Presidency was reorganized and he was called as second counselor. Offering an example of humility and willingness to serve that has influenced generations, he said to the Church: “In the service of the Lord, it is not where you serve but how. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one takes the place to which one is duly called, which place one neither seeks nor declines."

I'm excited to get my trainee on Wednesday and show him the ropes out in Hemet!
