We taught a few new people this week. One of them was a woman I taught my first time around in Hemet, Hermana Police. We had two good lessons with her already and found her a good friend in the ward who lives in her apartment complex. We also taught the Granados family and the spirit was really strong in the lesson with them. They have a daughter who joined in on the lesson with us and one of her best friends is a member. Another one of the people we met this week, Giovana, has a really good friend that is a member and she is willing to start learning about the restored gospel.
We had some scares this week with one of our progressing investigators, Jose, who decided that it was all going too fast and didn't want to get baptized on the 20th of July. A few days later, we had a lesson at the church with him and he set his own date for August 31st, which is a bit farther out, but he'll be super ready by the time he is baptized.
We were praying pretty hard for a member to bring a friend to church and we had Hermana Moreno bring her friend, Belen, to church. We are going to meet with them all tomorrow!
4th of July was alright, but honestly the 2 earthquakes were a little more exciting than all the fireworks!
This has also been our 3rd pday in a row at the golf course, but we spent most of the time on the putting green today. This is in hopes of one day that you might see Elder Moon or Elder Abraham on ESPN the Ocho for the World Championship of mini golf.
On a spiritual note, here's a quote from Elder Holland from a talk he gave called "The Other Prodigal":
"Brothers and sisters, I testify that no one of us is less treasured or cherished of God than another. I testify that He loves each of us—insecurities, anxieties, self-image, and all. He doesn’t measure our talents or our looks; He doesn’t measure our professions or our possessions. He cheers on every runner, calling out that the race is against sin, not against each other. I know that if we will be faithful, there is a perfectly tailored robe of righteousness ready and waiting for everyone, “robes … made … white in the blood of the Lamb.” May we encourage each other in our effort to win that prize is my earnest prayer, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
