It's looking like we will be able to go to the temple this Saturday with Raquel and Rosa. We are making a push to get some of the other recent converts/less actives to the temple this summer. We found a less active family, the Ortiz family, and we really were able to help them at the right time. Their records arent in this ward yet, but I remember running into them the first time I was in Hemet, but they really didnt have time for missionaries. I saw I still had her number, so we called her and set up an appointment. She said that right before we called her, she had been receiving some impressions that she needed to go back to church after being inactive for about 2 years. They are a family of 3, so her husband is a member, but their daughter just turned 8, so it'll be great for the ward if they all come back. Definitely a family that I could see getting sealed in the temple in a little over a year.
We also found another family who arent members of the church, the MurĂu family, who we were able to teach twice this week and they have a baptismal goal for July 27th.
Our friend, Jose, came to church again and we were able to teach him 2 more times. He is almost through 1 Nephi and we have pretty much taught him everything. He will for sure get baptized on the 20th of July.
There are a few members of the Salazar family who are progressing to baptism on the 20th as well, but we just need to get them some good friends from the ward.
The biggest thing I've learned this transfer is the importance of working on getting people to the temple. Once a missionary leaves an area and leaves his converts behind there, it's a lot harder to get them to the temple. I'm pretty lucky to be back here in Hemet, so that I can be able to get a second chance to get the converts from the first time around, to the temple.
One of my favorite quotes from this week is from President Oaks, he said,
"Someone has said that what we get depends on what we seek. Persons who attend Church solely in order to get something of a temporal nature may be disappointed. The Apostle Paul wrote disparagingly of persons who “serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly” (Rom. 16:18). Persons who attend Church in order to give to their fellowmen and serve the Lord will rarely be disappointed. The Savior promised that “he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it” (Matt. 10:39)."
